Cybersecurity specialist Daniel doesn’t notice the two people in the crowd until the man tells him to slip off the backpack. Before he can protest, the woman beside him points a gun at his rib cage. Daniel lets them leave with a backpack but keeps the device in his pocket. Daniel runs to the garage a few moments later and sees Noah surrounded by his guards. Daniel demands that Noah return his girlfriend, Jane. Noah promises to do it after his team finishes counting what’s in the bag. Noah’s team confirms all the items are accounted for, and Noah hands Jane to Daniel. Daniel pushes Jane behind him, slips on a plastic glove, and grabs for the device. He holds it up to Noah, and Noah warns everyone to step back. Daniel and Jane get in a car and drive away. Daniel calls Hugo on a burner phone. Hugo tells Noah to find a safe place that can’t be linked to him and leave Jane there. They will find him. Daniel destroys his phone.

Meteorologist Margaret asks her boyfriend, Jackson, to watch her audition tape. She wants to become an anchorperson on the local news station KCXE. She says moving could expose her to a larger market. During their conversation, a cardinal flies into the room and lands on the dining room table. The beautiful bird captivates Margaret, and she can’t stop staring. Jackson shoos the animal away. Then, Margaret starts speaking Russian. When he pulls her attention, she speaks English with no recollection of what she was saying. Margaret jumps in her car and speeds to the studio. She unknowingly reads the minds of everyone in the room. Margaret stands in front of the camera and delivers an incoherent message to the residents of Kansas City. She goes to the hospital for CT scans, but she spies Noah’s men and escapes with Jackson. She has a vision and needs to find Daniel now.

As Margaret’s clip goes viral, Hugo and Noah see it. Hugo knows she’s the missing piece to his puzzle. However, he doesn’t look for her because he knows she will find them. Noah grabs a device in cold storage and tries to infiltrate Daniel’s mind. However, Daniel has a unique block that pushes Noah away. So, Noah enters Jane’s mind. He instructs Jane to stop Daniel before he can get his message out to the world. If Daniel and Margaret meet, Noah knows they will disclose everything, ending the world as we know it. Can Noah stop them?

This movie starts in the middle with a confusing scene at a wrestling match. Then, the writers slowly piece the film together by exposing each of the main characters’ backstories. Then, they all converge at the end with one breathtaking moment. The director used practical lighting for most of the scenes and added intense action to break up the lulls. The action has great graphics and is shot with precision. However, the old conspiracy footage is laughable. Also, the director captures the childhood flashback in an odd manner. The movie ends on one word that will make you yell at the screen because it doesn’t feel incomplete. Viewers will wait for a post-credit scene that never comes. While this film has an intriguing concept, it’s the storytelling that makes it unique, not the story itself. This film is great in theaters, but you won’t have the urge to watch it a second time.
