I Love Boosters – Review
I Love Boosters – Budget of $20 million – 1 hour and 53 minutes
Corvette, Sade, and Mariah work as a team of boosters known as the Velvet Gang in the media. They steal high-end fashion from Metro Design stores and sell it at one-third the cost in their neighborhood. During their latest heist, the news distracts Corvette. The fashion icon, Christine Smith, did an interview condemning their actions because boosters hurt her margins. Corvette can’t believe her favorite designer knows she exists. However, Corvette believes Metro Designs’ prices cause Christie’s declining sales.
After a boost, Corvette sneaks into Christie’s office and overhears her discussing her new line of suits, each worth $100,000. Christie catches Corvette, but Corvette quickly invents a cover story. Christie gives Corvette words of encouragement before letting Corvette go.
Corvette interviews for a job at Metro Designs while Sade and Mariah steal merchandise. She is stunned speechless when she sees her design on a mannequin. She doesn’t know how Christie stole her work, but Corvette wants payback. At Christie’s headquarters, she views footage of the latest boost. She recognizes Corvette and will do anything to destroy her. Corvette and Christie’s battle will go global, but who will be on top?
This colorful satire film will go over your head if you aren’t versed in fashion controversy. The film covers factory subpar conditions, low wages in stores, and art wrapped in consumerism. Also, it briefly focuses on the environmental impact of fast fashion. The movie shines a light on how consumers and workers can come together to change things. However, that message can get lost in the film’s weirdness. In an attempt to be funny, it swallows the overall theme, like clothes that are too big. Also, it has two strange subplots that are hard to follow. While this picture will win awards for costume and makeup, it won’t have a lasting impact on the audience and the fashion world.
I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars
Humanity is our canvas – Christie

Give it to me. It’s mines anyway – Corvette

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu – Review
Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu – Budget of $165 million – 2 hours and 12 minutes
A bounty hunter, Din Djarin, called the Mandalorian, completes his latest bounty with Grogu, but he returns to the New Republic empty-handed because he killed the bounty. Commander Ward of the New Republic sighs because they can’t extract information about the Galactic Empire from a dead man. She pays Din and gives him his next assignment. Ward wants Din to capture Commander Coin. However, no one knows what he looks like. Ward believes the Hutt twins know where to find Coin. They will need an incentive to help the New Republic. Their nephew, Rotta, son of the deceased kingpin Jabba, is missing. If Din finds Rotta, he can return Rotta to the twins in exchange for Coin’s location. Rotta can take his rightful place on the throne, and Din can capture Coin. Ward gives Din a Razor Crest Ship as pre-payment, and Din accepts the deal. Din believes this will be a smooth exchange, but greater forces are at work.
This continuation of the TV series is funny, exciting, and a little scary (FTC Affiliate Disclaimer). The plot relies on CGI, but the animation feels nostalgic. The lighting work between the actors and the generated elements was beautifully meshed together to give the movie an authentic Star Wars look. The plot has several twists and turns to keep the audience on their toes, but there is too much foreshadowing. The story has enough to attract Star Wars fans without alienating potential new fans. You don’t need to watch the original movies or the TV series to enjoy this latest installment. Also, Grogu doesn’t disappoint. He is cute, funny, and sagacious. Grogu adds a new spark to the picture, which entices a younger audience to watch. Parents should know this is a space action film with zero innuendos or crude jokes. Also, there are zero scenes after the credits. This film is worth your time and money, but an IMAX screen is enough.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars
I’m an independent contractor – Din
Messy, very messy – Ward
You didn’t say no – Zeb
I am my own man – Rotta

Obsession – Review
Obsession – Budget of $750,000 – $1 million – 1 hour and 49 minutes
Ian watches his friend, Bear, practice confessing his feelings to a waitress. After several failed attempts, Bear wants to put it all on the line and admit to his friend, Nikki, that he has feelings for her. Ian tells Bear to play it cool when they meet for trivia night. Bear comes home and finds his cat, Sandy, dead. The cat got into his oxycodone and overdosed. Bear wants to stay home until Nikki calls. She begs him to attend trivia night so they can win. Nikki mentions that her necklace fell, and Bear has an idea. He drives to a holistic store to buy another necklace with a stone that has significant meaning. Inside the store, Bear sees a unique item called One Wish Willow. Breaking the stick inside grants a person one wish. Bear buys the necklace and the novelty wish item.
Bear arrives and greets Ian, Nikki, and Sarah. Sarah shows affection and compassion to Bear, but he overlooks it. Bear finesses a way to drive Nikki home. They arrive at her home, but he can’t build the courage to tell her how he feels. She walks toward her door, and he sees the novelty item in his bag. Bear wishes Nikki loved him more than anything in the world, and he breaks it. He looks up to see Nikki staring at his car. She walks to his car. Nikki says her father is sick and she doesn’t want to be alone. She can’t stop staring at him. To Bear’s surprise, his wish came true. But his dream will become a nightmare for him, his friends, and Nikki.
When you watch this film, remember one fact: Bear is the villain. The plot gives Nikki a moment of clarity. The audience will understand that she is a prisoner of his wish. The screenwriter and director did a tremendous job showing that Nikki’s subconscious knows she’s trapped. Nikki screams on the inside and begs for an end. Bear is selfish, childish, and a coward. It doesn’t take long for him to regret his decision as Nikki grows clingy, unhinged, and all-consuming. The ending is a harsh dose of reality for the viewers. The writers amplified the worst characteristics of codependent behavior and added violence. It’s horrifying to watch the story unfold, but it’s somewhat needed with today’s relationship rhetoric. While this movie is listed as a horror, it should be classified as a thriller. It’s not the best, but it’s worth watching for a lesson.
I give it 3 out of 5 stars
I know you like me, Bear – Nikki
It’s an inside joke – Bear
