Unbeknownst to each other Spock and Kirk want to go in another direction for their lives. Spock, after getting unsettling news, decides to become an Ambassador. Kirk is tired of the monotony of space and wants to become a Vice Admiral. Then, they get a distress signal stating that an escape pod with one passenger is stranded on a planet and damaged. In order to save this lone survivor, they must go through the nebula, a difficult part of space to navigate. Once the Enterprise enters this planet’s airspace, they are attached by Krall’s swarm for an artifact, that is typically used to promote peace. It’s not long before the Enterprise’s crew must escape the ship to avoid death. After the Enterprise crash lands, the crew is separated in toe groups of 2(Spock & Bones, Kirk and Chekov, Uhura & Sulu, Scotty & Jaylah) and each learns a part of the bigger plan. But in order to stop Krall’s plan, they must get together, save the crew, and get a very old ship to fly.
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR SEAT FOR ANY REASON. You will miss something and be confused the entire movie. This movie proves that great trilogies are made up of great action sequences, amazing comedic timing, and petal to the metal story line. The main characters have changed and grown over the past 3 years in the story and in their acting. The only downfall was the motorcycle sequence. It looks too animated and comes off as more of a video game than a movie. With this huge budget, the graphics could have been better. However, the graphics were great for the fight sequences and the “alien looks”. Be ready for some interesting jewelry, classical music, optimistic pessimism, laughs, cheers, somber moments, and a glimpse of some old friends. No need for 3D nor staying past the end crawl.
This movie is the perfect tribute to Leonard Nimoy and Anton Yelchin.
I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars
I ripped my shirt again – Kirk
To perfect eyesight and a full head of hair – Bones
Cut it’s throat – Krall
I fail to see the relevance – Spock
I’m feeling generous today, so have at it – Scotty
My edge is not off – Jaylah
