Henry Ford, II is furious.  Sales have been in a decline for years.  He wants everyone, from the factory workers to corporate guys, to come up with a plan to fix it.  Lee Iacocca, vice president of Ford, believes he has a solution.  For 2 decades, Ford’s style has stayed the same.  Lee believes 17-year-olds today don’t want to drive the same cars their parents drove.  They want something sleek and sexy like a Ferrari.  For the last 5 years, Ferrari has won the Le Mans – a 24-hour race in France.  Even though Ford builds more cars than Ferrari, Ferrari is more memorable.  But focusing on their racing team has left Ferrari broke.  Lee suggests Ford buys Ferrari.  In the deal, Ford will control 90% of manufacturing and Ferrari would control 90% of the racing.  Ferrari considers the offer until he reads that Ford will have control of if and when Ferrari could race.  Enzo storms out of the deal and sells Ferrari to Fiat.  Henry Ford II wants to destroy Enzo in Le Mans by building a car to beat Ferrari.  Lee calls Carroll Shelby – an automotive designer, engineer, and winner of a Le Mans – to build the car but Shelby’s heart problems won’t allow him to race.  Shelby knows the next best man for the job, Ken Miles.  Leo Beebe, senior executive vice president of Ford, doesn’t think Ken will tow the company line.  When Shelby approaches Ken with the offer, Ken hates it.  He knows Ford will try to control them every step of the way, and in turn, slowing them down.  Shelby and Ken will be tested for the future of Ford.

Get ready to have all the feels: happiness, anger, sadness, and pure adrenaline.  As Ken races, you can feel the pressure on your chest and will hold on to your armrest.  It takes time for Shelby to learn, but Ken was right.  It was the corporate honchos causing the problems in Ford.  So concerned with press and photo ops, they forgot about cars.  While Ford focused on the car, Shelby (a former race car driver) understood a great driver wins the race.  The car is just fast.  Seeing these men claw and fight for the purity of automotive engineering will give you pride.  See them pay the ultimate price will break your heart.  It’s true what they say, cars started to decline when accountants started designing them.  This movie has some strong language but kids over 12 will understand the words used in frustration.
