Angela oversees the decorations for their daughter and future son-in-law’s wedding dinner while Marcus changes into something more suited for the occasion. Angela scans the name cards at the table and moves Mike’s away from Troy’s. Angela and Marcus can’t believe the woman Mike is dating, named Regina. He dates much younger women, wears a hairpiece, and drives fast cars. Since he beat cancer, Mike wants to avoid feeling old. Sheila and Troy love their son, Denver, and run a landscaping company together. Angela and Marcus believe Sheila’s marriage is fine, but her family is facing health struggles. Then, Angela sees Terry and Dianne’s places and reminisces about their past. Terry is flying himself and Dianne in on a private plane, while their children Kenya and TJ will arrive before them. It shocks Dianne because he’s predictable; a word Terry detests. While they look forward to the festivities, they will miss Pat. Angela and Marcus understand and want to use this time to focus on their daughter, Jasmine, their son, Marcus Jr., and their future son-in-law, Wesley. Wesley is the son of their college friend, Roselyn. Her ex-husband, Harvey, almost ruined her life. However, she rebuilt herself and her company after the divorce while protecting Wesley. She looks forward to connecting with him while they spend time in Italy before the wedding.
Kenya, TJ, Marcus Jr, Jasmine, Wesley, and Denver arrive. The boys go into one room and discuss Wesley’s wedding. Marcus Jr. doesn’t understand why Wesley would get married because they can have any woman they want. Marcus tells Wesley to play the field, but everyone else disagrees. They believe Marcus Jr.’s ex-girlfriend deeply hurt him. Sheila, Troy, Terry, Dianne, and Roselyn arrive, and the party commences. When Angela sees Mike with his young girlfriend and hairpiece, she can’t stop laughing. Mike demands that Marcus control his wife. He doesn’t see the look Regina gives Marcus Jr because she broke his heart. He texts her to meet him alone. Dianne and Sheila notice the distance between Wesley and Jasmine, and it concerns them.
Before dinner, Roselyn admits she has a new boyfriend, Nick, but doesn’t go into detail. She will tell them more after they arrive at Villa Pizzo. As everyone sits around the table, Jasmine and Wesley stand for a toast. Jasmine toasts her parents for showing her how to maintain a perfect marriage. Mike chuckles under his breath as his friends give him a stern look. Wesley toasts his father for being their for him, and only his father. Everyone mingles after dinner, but Angela sees movement through Marcus Jr.’s bedroom window. She enters his room and catches him with Regina. She screams at them both and compares him to his father. She wants Marcus to confront his son, and he promises to do it later. Until then, he wants to keep this from Mike so it won’t ruin the wedding. The young adults and Mike leave for the club, while the couples stay behind. The parents want to encourage the marriage without exposing the hardships. Can they get Wesley and Jasmine down the aisle without killing each other?
This dramatic comedy opens with Angela and Marcus enjoying the fruits of their marriage. They believe everyone else is, too. However, fans of the franchise know something more lurks below the surface. While the film doesn’t focus on the adults, it gives an in-depth look at the lasting results of their marriages: their children. The older 3 couples have to maintain a perfect image of marriage for their children while battling each other in private. The actors didn’t slip back into familiar roles. Instead, they displayed growth and lessons learned over the years with commanding performances. The writer carefully balanced humor and drama in each scene. The characters were funny in complex situations but remained respectful of current feelings. The laughter keeps viewers from crying. The topic is the lie parents tell themselves. If they display perfection, then their kids will follow with ease. However, they learn that secrets are poison, creating an unrealistic standard. The parents must see their children as adults and tell the truth. The clothing and hair don’t disappoint. Each character is runway-ready. This movie won’t offer a tour of Italy. However, you will see the funniest workout to grace Netflix. The ending passes the torch to the next generation.
