Danny is a caddy at an ultra exclusive golf club called Bushwood Country Club. His parents tell him to save his tips and go to college. Danny believes that dream is next to impossible because he wasn’t awarded the caddy scholarship. But while on the course, he learns the caddies will get another chance. He schmoozes up to the 3 top members: Judge Smails, Ty Webb, and Al Czervik. Judge Smails is a uptight, play-by-the-rules man. Ty Webb just wants to relaxed and brilliant golfer. Al Czervik is a wild, new-comer. When Smails becomes sick and tired of Czervik’s shenanigans, he challenges him to a golf game for $20,000. It will all come down to one hole, a gopher, and greenskeeper.
This classic is a smart comedy. If you are expecting something silly from these comedians, then think again. Even the characters names are laughable, if you give it some thought. The ending could have packed a bigger punch (as far ask character resolution), but it did end on a laugh and smoke. If you keep your eyes open, you will see a tribute to the Shining; and comedy that sparked Happy Gilmore. This comedy is not for kids, but great for adults.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars
