Kate and Maura Ellis are loving, fun, and different sisters. Then, they are blindsided because their parents decide to sell their childhood home and give the girls 24 hours to get their stuff. After reminiscing, the girls meet the future owners (whom the girls hate) and decide to throw a huge party. However, this time the girls switch roles. The safe sister, Maura, will cut loose and get crazy. The party sister, Kate, will sit back and take care of everyone. And as the party ensues Kate’s secrets, past classmates, drug dealers, and Maura’s secrets collide.
This movie is a great laugh-a-minute comedy. It mixes Pitch Perfect, Bridesmaids, and Project X into one big party. With most Tina and Amy movies, Sisters is a SNL reunion with Maya Rudolph and Rachel Dratch. Like in Trainwreck, John Cena knocks it over the ropes as Pazuzu, the drug dealer with an interesting safe word. Its easy to miss a joke because you are laughing so hard at the last one. This is not a chick flick, but a pure comedy and a great date movie. There is about 10 minutes of mushiness but the laughs are still there.
I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars
I am not a hot head. I am brassy – Kate
I’m sure I do – Pazuzu
Did you see your parents die? – Maura
