Nancy Adams is a med school dropout, super organized, big sister on a mission. She wants to surf the same beach her mom went to when she found out she was pregnant with Nancy. The water, sand, and waves are picturesque and everything her mother told her it would be. Nancy decides to ride one more wave when she discovers a dead whale in the water. Little does she know its the sharks feeding ground. Soon, Nancy had a huge gash in her leg, bruises from rocks, and coral stings. Due to the low tide, Nancy is able to maroon herself on an rock but she knows high tide will come. She must make it to shore or die trying.
This movie is a mix of Jaws, Deep Blue Sea, and Cast Away (FTC Affiliate Disclaimer). It quickly gives you the background story of Nancy through text, phone calls, and pictures on her phone. If you blink, you will miss it. It doesn’t take long to get to the shark and no one is spared. You will find yourself saying, “this can’t get any worse” and then it does. Your heart will pound, you will hold your breath, and clench your teeth. Be prepared for lots of teeth, unique use of jewelry, close calls, Steven Seagal, jellyfish, and an ending that will leave you breathless. Although it does get a little over the top, this movie should be seen in theaters.
I give this 3.5 out of 5 stars
