Lee Gates hosts a financial advice show called Money Monster (similar to Mad Money hosted by Jim Cramer). He does everything he can to keep his audience entertained, including dancing, sound bits, and puns. But Lee often needs to be reined in with the help of his director, Patty Fenn. During a live broadcasting, Kyle Budwell, pretending to be a delivery man, walks on set with a loaded gun and 2 bomb vest. Kyle invested $60,000 in IBIS stock and wants to know why $800 million just went missing. Kyle believes that the computer glitch explanation is an excuse for a cover up. Kyle blames Lee and IBIS CEO, Walt Camby. So one vest is for Lee and the other is for Walt. Although scheduled to be on set, Walt is not there. However IBIS CCO, Diane Lester takes his place, not in the studio, but via satellite at the IBIS headquarters. With this show and its host being taken hostage on live TV, the police are soon called. As time goes on Kyle gets more frustrated with the crew, the police, Diane, Patty, Walt, but most of all Lee. Kyle wants real answers or everyone will die.

This movie takes no time getting into full gear. It has great dialogue because everyday conversations are hilarious and often the characters say what you are thinking. Jodie Foster, director, allows Patty’s character, as the Money Monster’s director, explain the changes in camera shots and angles. You are quickly gripped and compelled to see it through to the very end. Don’t go into this movie hoping to find a hero. Everyone has their faults and these faults are displayed realistically on the screen. You will double think the advice you listen to in the media … is it real or just, as Dr. Oz says, “flowery language”.
