Elijah presents his pitch for his new invention to Regal Blue. It’s a condom that covers all the male genitalia. His boss, Burgess, loves the product. She sees that Elijah has nervous sweats and stumbles when speaking to a group. So, she asks Brad, head of sales, to pitch the idea to the World Cup Committee. Elijah believes he can do it, but Brad tells him to relax and create. Elijah watches Brad pitch the product to Señor Santos, and he loves it. Brad renames it Balls Up, and it becomes the official condom of the World Cup. Santos takes Elijah and Brad to the club. When Brad buys a round of drinks, Santos says he can’t partake. He’s 9 years sober. Brad encourages him to just sniff it. Soon, Santos loses his sobriety and swings naked above the club. It causes a national incident, and Regal Blue loses the deal. Burgess fires Brad and Elijah.
Three months later, Brad sits at home when a courier brings a package to his door. It’s airline tickets to Brazil and an all-access pass to the World Cup. He deduces that the person in charge forgot to cancel their accommodations. So, he takes advantage of the trip. To his surprise, Elijah is sitting next to him on the plane.
During the game, Brad gives Elijah a flask. He drinks his sorrows and thinks the mascot, a linguiça, is mocking him. He attacks the linguiça and accidently makes Brazil lose the World Cup. The stadium is furious and threatens them as a police escort them away. Elijah wakes up in jail with a hangover. Their public defender, Antonia, offers help. However, Elijah fears for her safety after she makes several grim statements. So, he fires her. She exits their jail cell, and the captain calls them to his office. He’s releasing them and gives them instructions on how to walk out. Brad and Elijah realize he’s setting them up. The Brazilians hate them. It won’t be long before someone kills them. Can they get out of the country alive?
This film is neither funny, entertaining, nor shocking. The twists are predictable, and the crude humor isn’t new. It’s not worth a free trial on Prime Video (FTC Affiliate Disclaimer). The plot is a huge waste of these actors’ talents because fans know what they are capable of doing. The movie’s only upside is the pacing. It has enough action to make you look up from the screen once in a while. Otherwise, it’s a bore you can skip.
I give it 1.5 out of 5 stars
We call him the enabler – Elijah
There’s no ‘me’ in ‘team’ – Burgess
Why hasn’t anyone thought of this before – Sr. Santos
