Vers, a Kree, hates sleeping because she has vivid dreams. She dreams of a battle between her and a Skrull. Skrull can shapeshift to anything they see down to the DNA but they only have the entities short term memory. The Skrull points a gun at her but before it pulls the trigger, a woman shoots the Skrull. She has no memory of the past or this woman. However, Vers knows she admires her because the Supreme Intelligence takes the woman’s form. Before a mission, each Kree must stand before the Supreme Intelligence. They tap into your mind and take the form of the person you most admire. Her mentor and commander Yon-Rogg tells Vers to keep her emotions in check. If her emotions are in check, her powers will be too. If she cannot control her powers, the Supreme Intelligence will take them away and she will never be able to go on a mission. They have one more practice battle before Vers stands in front of them. She is able to plead her case in front of the Supreme Intelligence and they give her a mission with Yon-Rogg and his team. During her first mission, Vers is captured by the Skrull and placed into a machine that hacks her memories. As they play and replay her past, Vers doesn’t recognize the people or the places. She sees a woman named Dr. Wendy Lawson, another woman named Maria, a child, and her in different stages of life. Dazed and confused, she breaks free and jumps into an escape pod. Before the pod blast off, the onboard computer is shot. Vers flies toward C-53 – a.k.a. Earth – and crashes into a Blockbuster. Yon-Rogg tells her to wait but Vers can’t. A few Skrull landed with her. She must protect the earth from the Skrull or they will take over Earth. Before she deals with the Skrull, Nick Fury, Coulson, and Maria have a few questions for her. Those question will unlock her past and the dark truth hiding within.
Understand, while this is a new hero to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), you must see a few of the movies to understand everything that is going on. You must watch Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man, Captain American: Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Avengers: Infinity War (FTC Affiliate Disclaimer). Like the first Captain America movie, this movie gets the time period right. Being set in 1995, the music, clothes, and technology will be a funny moment of nostalgia for some. Although for the younger audience, seeing the internet and file transfer speeds, it will be excruciating. And like Thor: Ragnarok it had funny everyday dialogue and humorous, long pauses (FTC Affiliate Disclaimer). Be warned: if you miss anything in the first 10 minutes, you will be lost the entire movie and miss a beautiful tribute to Stan Lee. It explains the histories between the Skrull and Kree, Yon-Rogg and Vers, and Vers and the Supreme Intelligence. In addition, you will look at cats with new respect and fear. Also, you will learn what happened to Nick’s eye, what urged of the Kree alliance with the Nova Corps, and Nick’s middle name. With most origin movies, the pace will slow down but this is necessary to reveal Vers’s history to the audience and herself. While it does slow down, there is enough action to gain the audience’s attention. The actions scenes are well choreographed during the hand to hand combat, but other battle scenes looked too cartoonish. Being this far into the MCU, the audience expects more from the CGI and real life merges. They did make up for this with a de-aging of Nick Fury and Phil Coulson by 25 years. This movie should have been 20 minutes longer to give a little more Kree history for newer members of the MCU. This shouldn’t have to be said stay after the end credits for the cough heard around the world.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars
Wanna fight? – Vers
Call me young lady again and I am going to put my foot you know where – Maria
I am so proud of you – Yon-Rogg
I know a rouge soldier when I see one. You got a stake in this fight – Fury
Am I supposed to guess where? – Talos
And what kind of example would you be setting for your daughter – Monica
I laugh. On the inside – Korath

Captain marvel is too powerful to be considered seriously by a movie fan. Seems like she can destroy any vallian or fleet of space ships even planets in movie very easily, owning a superior level against other characters like a bug in videogame which make the film tastelike fast food and can’t recall much of the plot now.
Visual effects can’t hide poor screenplay as many other blockbusters.
