Lately, monsters who smell fear have been appearing in Gotham. When Bruce destroys them, they leave an image behind of 3 squares. Batman is sure of three things. First, these are aliens. Second, these boxes mean something. Three, he is going to need help. After an intense battle, Wonder Woman explains the 3 boxes are the Mother Boxes. The three boxes were left on earth and keep apart. The boxes were hidden in Themyscira, Atlantis, and somewhere on earth. But with the world more divided than ever, the boxes have woken up and called Steppenwolf. If the boxes come together, creating the Unity, Steppenwolf will rain terror on earth. The world fought off Steppenwolf before and won. Now, he is determined to rule the world once and for all. Bruce knows the team is tough but it needs a true leader. In order to get the best leader, they must bring him back.
The graphics should only be on the big screen. Since one of the main characters and the main villain are heavily CGI’ed, it takes away from some of the fight scenes. It’s noticeable when the actor is replaced with a computer simulation. Since 3 of the heroes didn’t have a movie to explain their origin story, the writers were tasked with making us care about them. They succeeded. Cyborg’s tumultuous relationship with his father, The Flash’s painful relationship with his father, and Aquaman’s distance from Atlantis are all explained in great detail. Knowing what drives them breathes new life into the DC Universe movie. The storyline brings you in and keeps your attention. The movie features heart-wrenching moments along with some good laughs. See this in theaters and stay past the end credits for a look at the future of the Justice League.

At a “soft 4”, Tonya could outskate girls twice her age and had the awards to prove it. It was those skills and her mother’s dogged tenacity that landed her the top-notch coach Diane. With constant barbs from her mother, Tonya did everything to prove she was worthy of love and a gold medal. But as she got older, she learned the cold truth about figure skating. The judges didn’t want someone who could just skate, they wanted a ‘wholesome’ girl with the right pedigree and money to represent America. With Tonya’s rock music, blue nails, and homemade clothes, she would never be seen as the girl next door with a good family. However, Tonya would never let the judges stand in her way. And when she became the 1st woman to land a triple axel in a U.S. competition, she was guaranteed a spot on the Olympic Team. But as the pressure mounted, a death threat, retractable baton, and a lying nobody will bring Tonya’s dreams to an end.
So, you think you know Tonya? Well, you are wrong. This telling of Tonya’s story is more than just the “incident”. It’s the story of a little girl who did anything and put up with everything to be loved but got abused. However this story is interesting because you don’t feel bad for Tonya, you understand her, laugh, and respect her ups and down. As each person is interviewed, you relive that moment with them. During a fight, Tonya and Jeff tell their sides of the story in an interview while breaking the 4th wall during the fight. It’s that compelling storytelling that will keep you interested. This movie is eye-opening, funny, and raw. A must see in the theaters. And the best part, you will gain a new respect for the Triple Axel.
I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars
