By chance, Benjamin sees a late-night public access show called Wayne’s World. He thinks the show and its hosts are a perfect fit for his new sponsor, Noah’s Arcade. The next morning, he and Russell meet with Noah to convince him to sponsor the show in exchange for consistent advertisement. Benjamin travels to meet the show’s host; Wayne and Garth. Garth is shy but has great intuition. Wayne loves filming Wayne’s World and hopes to do it for a living. Both men have personal dreams but the dreams hinge on the success of the show. So when Benjamin meets with the Wayne and Garth, Wayne is excited about filming the show for network TV and making money doing something he loves. Garth is very concerned. There is just something about Benjamin that rubs him the wrong way. And Garth’s concern is realized their first day on set. But he must get Wayne to listen and see the truth about Benjamin before they lose everything.
As a spinoff from a Saturday Night Live sketch, fans may have felt uneasy about a full-length movie (FTC Affiliate Disclaimer). However, this one was executed very well. Wayne’s World is not afraid to laugh at itself and all comedies. It consistently breaks the 4th wall; Wayne even gets upset with Glen attempts to break the 4th wall too. Wayne says he won’t shamelessly advertise on his show while doing it in the movie. While this movie does provide laughs, some gags run on too long. They become old quickly and make the storyline drag. The end does pick up because several alternate endings are provided. However, it does make you wonder: Did they want several endings or could they just not decided on how it should end. Wayne’s world is a good, cheap laugh at the 90s genre and style. If you need to kill some time or be put in a good mood, give this comedy a try. And don’t worry, the classic Bohemian Rhapsody scene is within the first 15 minutes.
I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars
I mean Led Zeppelin didn’t write tunes that everyone liked. They left that to the Bee Gees – Wayne
Get it off! Get it off! It’s sucking my will to live – Garth
I’d like to think about this – Noah
Good thing – Cassandra
Well the world’s a twisted place – Glen
