Calvin loves the south side of Chicago, but with gang violence at an all time high, he doesn’t feel that Chicago loves him. He starts to consider moving his barbershop to the north side to protect his family and keep his son, Jalen, from going down the wrong path. Many believe that the government has forgotten about Chicago and could do more to help. While others feel that the community should help itself. Local politicians want to fence in the community; believing that having 1 way in and 1 way out will stop the violence. However, Calvin and Angie, a co-owner, knows that will hurt the barbershop’s profits. Hearing the fence plan, the Barbershop decides to ask for a Cease Fire for 48 hours from the neighborhood gang leaders. And the Barbershop will give free haircut during the Cease Fire. They hope that if politicians see the community fighting to keep the streets safe, then the fence idea will be scrapped. #BarbershopSavesTheNeighborhood
Like with the first 2 Barbershop movies, this movie hits on the social pulse of what’s going on in the United States (FTC Affiliate Disclaimer). Even with serious and sensitive topics, it manages to keep the humor needed to release any tension. And like in the first 2 movies, there are several side stores to keep the movie interesting, but they do not distract from the flow of the movie (FTC Affiliate Disclaimer). This film is a great talking point to start a real conversation. If you want something done, the community must do it. Also, you do not need to the Barbershop 2, but seeing Barbershop 1 will help. This movie is a must see at any time.
I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars
My life would be so much better if you weren’t in it – Jalen
I didn’t give up. I gave out – Calvin
The streets are talking. They’re tired. They’re angry – Calvin
That sandwich was handcrafted – Eddie
