Jyn lost her mother and father at the young age of 6. The Empire wants her father, Galen, to come back and finish the weapon … and they will kidnap his family to get him. Jyn is able to escape and hide in a bunker. Later, she is saved and raised by Saw Gerrera. 16 years later, Jyn is locked up under a different name, knowing her father’s last name would bring unwanted attention. While being transported, Jyn is “saved” by Rebel forces. She learns from the Senator that a pilot is saying her father is alive and the Empire is creating a planet destroyer with Galen’s help. They want to find the pilot but he is being held by Saw. Now, Saw has left the Rebellion and became an extremist. Saw won’t let the Rebellion anywhere near him, and this is why they need Jyn. Once Jyn risks her life to find Saw, he gives her a message … from her father. He confirms he has been working on the planet destroyer weapon but as a spy. He wants Jyn to get the planet destroyer’s architecture plans to the Rebellion, so they know how to defeat it. This means Jyn and her crew of ordinary heroes must go behind enemy lines and risk their lives. But is her crew for her or against her.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away … we were given a story that changed movies forever. Rogue One is described as the prequel to Star Wars: A New Hope and the sequel to Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith (FTC Affiliate Disclaimer). You will see classic characters and scenes you still love to this day. Now, 3D is not necessary but IMAX is essential. You will feel every laser fire and feel like you are flying in space. Although you don’t have to technically see the other films, it will help you get the jokes and some of the characters you see on the sideline. Episode 3.5 is a beautiful and well-executed movie. It will start a new line of fan fiction for you loyal fans. See this movie before someone ruins the ending and see it in IMAX.
I give it 5 out of 5 stars
