Wild Oats – Lifetime – 2 hours 2 minutes
Eva and Maddie, best friends, have both lost their husbands. Eva lost her husband to death while Maddie lost her husband to another woman. To make matters worse, Maddie has learned that she is very sick; and Eva’s daughter, Crystal, wants Eva to sell her home and move into an retirement community. Both women know they need something new. And “new” is answered when Eva gets a check from her husbands life insurance policy. Although it should be $50,000, Eva gets a check for $5,000,000. After attempting to return it, Eva and Maddie decide to spend it by going on vacation and having the time of their lives. And let the chips fall where they may. All seems fine, but soon the insurance company catches on and sends Alvin to collect the money or he will be fired. Let’s hope these ladies can outrun Alvin.
With Oscars and many other accolades in their pockets, Jessica Lange and Shirley MacLaine deliver memorable performances. It’s easy to fall in love with the characters. This movie makes fun of their age but from their perspective. Also, you will see how we underestimate people due to their age. This movie blows those prejudices out of the water. Sit back and enjoy how Lifetime movies should be made. It does lag a little in the middle but rapidly makes up for it with quick wit. This Ocean’s Eleven meets Golden Girls meets Spring Break is worth a look
