Venus has always played second fiddle to her best friend, Sydney. She decides to step out of her comfort zone and play Sydney’s favorite game app, Nerve. Nerve, is like Truth or Dare but without the Truth. You can be a watcher, who pays to watch, or a player, who gets paid to play. Watcher will dare players to do something wild for a specified amount of money.  Complete the Dare and the player gets paid.  Players only have a few rules

1. To leave the game, you must Fail or Bail
2. You must record your completed dare on your phone
3. You never snitch about Nerve

The 2 players with the most watchers will compete at the end to keep everything. Venus’ first dare links her with Ian. The watchers love them together and they become a team. But, of course, its all fun and games … until … everyone gets hurt. Its not long before Venus learns the truth about Ian, the Game, and the third type of player. So, are you a Player or a Watcher?

Based of the novel, Nerve, this movie is perfect for this generation of Pokemon Go, Instagram, and Tinder (FTC Affiliate Disclaimer). You will see how easy it is for players and watchers to get sucked into “Insta-fame”. This movie does have heart pounding moments, hold your breathe sequences, and a little hacking fun with a great ending. Of course, with any high school movie, you have to throw in teenage drama and angst, an overbearing mother, and unrequited love. For adults, its over done. But for summer vacation teens, its perfect. The best part is the film makers ability to make New York City a character and not just a backdrop. Seeing this movie in theaters is worth a matinee, but full price goers will NOT feel cheated.
