Max is the luckiest dog in New York. As a puppy, he moved in with Katie; and considers them to be roommates. The saddest part of his day is when she’s gone. He never knows where she is going or when she will come back. He normally just sits and waits for her while his friends (other pets in the building) go through mischief. Max’s life is turned upside down when Katie brings home Duke; a big, brown, long haired dog that is Max’s “brother”. Max is not having it. The next day he threatens Duke to be on his best behavior or he will make Katie kick him out. Duke tows the line but gets tired of Max and throws him in a recycling bin. After both lose their collars, they are caught by Animal Control. They are freed by the Revolution of Flushed Pets. These pets were abandoned by their owners are plot revenge on humankind; and at the forefront is a bunny named Snowball. When Snowball learns that Max and Duke are domesticated, he wants them dead. Gidget, a Pomeranian in love with Max, realized the 2 are missing. She will stop at nothing to find them and gets help along the way from old and new friends. Max and Duke must get home before Snowball gets to them and Gidget must find them before they get hurt. And this all has to get done before Katie gets home.
To be honest, you have seen this story before (reference: Toy Story 1) where 2 enemies must work together to get home while their friends look for them (FTC Affiliate Disclaimer). This story is unique because all the pets have different stories and personalities. Gidget and Snowball are the standout characters with true transition. Get to the theater on time for a minions short movies and stay a little for a costume party. This movie is fun for the whole family with kid and adult jokes alike and even great in 3D. Spot which scenes will be in the upcoming video game. Its a must in theaters and at full price.
