The Cheerleader Murders – Lifetime – 2 hours 2 minutes

The Cheerleader Murders

Ellie believes her town is cursed after a string of deaths. The latest victims being her father and sister when they are murdered by her sister’s ex-boyfriend. Ellie feels that it is a matter of time before the curse finds her. Ellie fears are realized when her best friends, Dee and Morgan, go missing. She goes to Morgan’s home to check up on her and finds a bloody crime scene. Soon, she is getting strange notes, being followed, and receiving creepy items. Ellie must find her friends before the curse comes for her.

This “inspired by true events” mystery feels more like Pretty Little Liars episode than a movie. You can’t be sure of the killer because when the girls go missing, everyone turns creepy. With that aspect, it does keep you guessing until last 15 minutes. Now, you will find yourself screaming at the protagonist for making stupid 80s horror movie mistakes (splitting up, watching the killer trying to break free, wasting time opening a car door when a window is open). This is a good movie to kill time or have as background noise, but don’t cancel plans or waste good wine.

I give it 2.5 out of 5 stars

At least I have a dad – Morgan Wheeler
