Joy Mangano is a divorced mother of two with her mom, grandma, ex-husband, kids, and newly single dad living with her.  She was valedictorian of her high school with dreams to build things the whole world would love.  However, she lost that spark as family demands got in the way.  After mopping a mess, causing her hands to get cut and bleed, she created a new mop.   She struggles with family, patents, the QVC, and herself to see her dreams come true.  This is a great story of tenacity and triumph.

Narrated by her grandmother, Mimi, Joy gives great lessons on business and personal growth.  This is a good movie for parent to watch as a guideline for: How to NOT Talk to Your Kids.  Although, this tale has been told with other characters, i.e. Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, and Martha Stewart, Joy is different because you, your family, and your friends have her products … and you didn’t even know it.  Your jaw will drop when Mimi gives a quick description of a product you know, own, and love.  This is a great movie, not just for women, but for the business minded.  And watch out for a posthumous cameo.

I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars
