Philippe Petit is a wire walker that demanded the attention of his audience.  Stepping in or on his circle was a true sign of disrespect to his craft.  Petit wanted new challenges of his wire; and with a crack of a tooth he found his greatest challenge yet:  The Twin Towers.  One by one, Philippe meets 7 accomplishes that will help him pull off The Coup on August (or Aout) 7th.  The team knows that what they will do is highly illegal and Petit could die (a word he doesn’t like to use), but they all believe in Philippe’s dream.  The film takes you through each step of the plan, all the close calls, and one bloody foot.  Is Petit an artist, purely insane, an inspiration, or all 3? You decided.

This film was shot beautifully and used 3D imaging to give the audience the true feeling of walking on a high wire. You will hold your breath at moments and feel your knees shake.  WARNING: If you are afraid of heights or experience vertigo easily, don’t see this movie in 3D. Joseph Gordon-Levitt worked with Petit in order to walk on the wire.  He mastered it with ease and gives the viewer true moments of awe.  This film is a mix of Oceans 11, a Petit biography, and a Twin Towers memorial all wrapped into one movie.  And one access badge at the end brings back the tragedy within the beauty of this film.  Although most of the movie is in English, only some of the French has subtitles.  It is up to the viewer to interpret or misinterpret what the actors are saying.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars

The carrots are cooked – Philippe Petit

Most walkers die in the final three steps.  They think they have arrived.  They get arrogant and die.  – Papa Rudy
