Toni Braxton’s Breathe Again – Review

Toni Braxton’s Breathe Again – Lifetime – 2 hours and 0 minutes

Evelyn, Jennifer, and Vanessa become friends while competing on the reality show, The Gentleman Suitor. Vanessa makes the final two against Alex for Jasper’s affection. Evelyn and Jennifer pleaded their case for Vanessa. However, it doesn’t work because Jasper picks Alex, breaking Vanessa’s heart. Afterward, the women sit and discuss their future. Widow Evelyn worries about her son, Will, attending college, while Jennifer fears how this exposure and loss will affect her business. They promise to support each other and remain friends.

Months later, Evelyn and Vanessa meet Jennifer. She has an idea. Jennifer wants to leave Los Angeles for the south. She desires to start her life over and do something new. Evelyn and Vanessa laugh at their friend’s spontaneous thought. While they support her, they refuse to leave. However, they changed their mind later. Vanessa’s business is floundering, and Will’s overprotective behavior is getting on Evelyn’s nerves. They call Jennifer, and she bounces with excitement. These women will find love, freedom, and strength in their friendship, jobs, and relationships.

Inspired by the hit song Breathe Again, these three women run from a problem that resurfaces (FTC Affiliate Disclaimer). It is the overarching theme of the movie. They lean on each other to overcome their overwhelming issues. They acknowledge their wrongdoings and give each other space to grow. This film is one of the healthiest displays of female friendship. The script offers heartfelt and intelligent conversations while having a good time. It will make viewers yearn for this relationship more than the romantic ones. The dialogue is gentle and understanding. While the film is a deviation from Lifetime’s shock and awe, it is missing a hook to reel you into the plot.

I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars

Maybe get you wig snatched – Vanessa

Don’t Breathe a Word – Review

Don’t Breathe a Word – LMN – 2 hours and 0 minutes

Meredith and Eve run a Lamaze studio, supporting local mothers throughout their childbirth journey. Meredith is the godmother of Eve’s son, Lucas. It’s helped Meredith overcome the pain of losing her daughter due to complications in the womb. Meredith’s husband, Tyler, is a police officer and dotes on Lucas. They celebrate Lucas’s 10th birthday. However, Meredith watches for Eve’s ex-boyfriend, Brian. Meredith arrives at work in the morning. To her dismay, someone vandalized it. Meredith calls Tyler for help. She blames Brian, but Eve doesn’t think he’s capable.

Nevertheless, Meredith confronts him at his karate studio. Brian warns her to back off before kicking her out. She updates Eve about the confrontation, and Eve is upset. She warns Meredith to stay away from Brian and to mind her business. Meredith tells her husband about everything. He will keep Brian at the top of his list of suspects. Later, Meredith arrives at Eve’s house with apology muffins and sees a boarded-up window. Eve explains that a kid broke it with a rock. However, something doesn’t sit right with Meredith.

Days later, Meredith gets a call from Lucas’s school. He got ill, and they can’t get in touch with Eve. Meredith is on his emergency list, so she picks him up. Meredith brings Lucas to her home and goes through his emergency bag. As they laugh, Eve bursts into the room. She is furious that Meredith took him from school without her permission. Meredith tries to explain, but Eve is too shaken up to listen. Someone tampered with Eve’s brakes, and she nearly suffered an accident. Meredith tells Eve that someone was watching from outside her home a few days ago. She fears it’s all connected. Eve panics and exits after telling Meredith to back off. However, Meredith can’t let it go. She confronts Brian again. This time, he’s tired of her accusations. Brian tells Meredith that Eve is the culprit because Eve isn’t her real name. Meredith doesn’t know what to do, especially since Eve and Lucas are missing. Can Meredith uncover her best friend’s past before the secrets end her life too?

This film offers drama, action, and well-timed one-liners. The script gives two styles of men. One is loving and supportive, while the rest are sexist and dominating. Meredith and Eve are friends but opposites. Meredith is honest and compassionate, while Eve is secretive and angry. The plot makes it easy for viewers to write off Eve, but you should give her grace. Her character’s turmoil comes to the surface in the final act. However, the plot never captures your full attention. It doesn’t reveal the plot properly to keep viewers engaged. You will watch this film while doing other activities and perk up during the action. And the action borders on comical when it should be nerve-racking. This film won’t be a favorite of 2026 Deadly Resolutions, but it is watchable.

I give it 3 out of 5 stars

Life always throws bullies at you – Eve

I don’t trust him – Meredith

Evil never sleeps. Never do I – Tyler

The Night She Disappeared – Review

The Night She Disappeared – Lifetime – 2 hours and 0 minutes

Principal Genie checks on her daughter, Lyla, in school. However, Lyla ignores her mother. Later, Genie enters Lyla’s volleyball practice and overhears Coach Steve talking with Tommy. Tommy’s daughter, Riley, is a member of the team. Steve is considering moving Lyla up, but Tommy says it’s not her turn. The spots should go to the senior members of the team. Lyla is a freshman. At home, Lyla asks to go to a party at Petra’s home. But Genie says no. The team has a history of hazing newcomers. Lyla’s father, David, arrives to take her for the weekend. Genie whispers to David to keep an eye on her. David brushes off Genie’s concerns and tells her to loosen the reins.

After working out with her friend, Aria, Genie gets a call from David. He wants to know if Lyla’s still at Amber’s house. Confused, Genie tells David that Amber and her family are out of town. David says that Lyla asked to go their and rode her bike alone. Genie is furious and looks for her daughter. She calls around and texts Lyla, but to no avail. She files a missing person’s report, much to David’s chagrin. When she discovers a similar murder to her daughter’s disappearance, Genie panics. She will do anything to find Lyla and return her home.

This film is a well-written whodunit with a few character flaws. The plot will keep you guessing about what happened to Lyla and her location. It releases nuggets of truth as people unveil secrets. This slow reveal allows the audience to piece together the clues with Genie and ask the tough questions. The character flaws align with glaring mistakes. For instance, leaving an unconscious victim on the floor to take a shower. Or meeting later to give someone information. However, the actors pull you into the story and have you guessing along with Genie.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars

Just because you’re the principal, doesn’t mean you’re some all-knowing god – Lyla

Where are you, Lyla – Genie

We need to talk – David

Poor choice of words – Steve

No one wants you here – Tommy

Love on the Amazon – Review

Love on the Amazon – Hallmark – 2 hours and 0 minutes

Claire waters plants and checks the mail for her sister, Amelia, while Amelia’s working in the Amazon. Amelia’s waiting for an important letter, so Clair visits daily. Claire drops an urgent letter and doesn’t see it until weeks later. Amelia got the fellowship grant. However, the deadline will pass in a week because Claire misplaced it for days. Claire calls their dad, Mr. Hall, to alert him. He tells Claire to sign it and mail it back. Claire can’t because they want information about the work Amelia’s doing. Mr. Hall offers to write it, but Claire fears it won’t be correct. Claire has disappointed Amelia in the past and doesn’t want to do it again. She will go to the Amazon and hand-deliver the fellowship for Amelia to sign. Mr. Hall doesn’t think his level-headed daughter will survive the trip. Also, her vice principal job will begin in a week. Claire assures Mr. Hall she has everything under control. She found a guide named Danny and booked the flight. She plans to return before her job begins.

Claire arrives in the Amazon and looks for Danny. She falls into him, and he catches her. Claire tells him about her plight. To her surprise, Danny knows Amelia. However, he won’t help. Danny only ships cargo, not tourists. Also, that part of the Amazon is too remote. No one would attempt to take a boat up their. Danny walks away. Claire purchases Amazon cruise tickets. She travels for a day until she discovers that her destination is the last on the trip, and it will take weeks to get there. Claire asks them to drop her off at the next stop, and they refund her. Claire sees Danny at the port and gives him a sly smile. She asks other captains, but they all say no. Claire asks Danny why he stopped. His ship suffered damage, and he doesn’t have the funds to fix it. Without it, he won’t make his deliveries on time and ruin his stellar reputation. Claire offers him cash to repair it, but only if he takes her to her destination. He relents. Claire will discover a new version of herself as she falls in love. But will she find Amelia in time?

The plot is far-fetched, but the acting and scenery make up for it. The chemistry between the leads makes viewers root for them. Also, the dynamic between Claire and Danny’s staff is rough but funny. The audience will cringe as Claire makes mistakes on the boat. However, she redeems herself later in the plot. The writer changed her from an overbearing American to a helpful deckhand. The script doesn’t explain Danny’s relationship with Amelia until the 5th act. So be patient. The people, animals, and legends will leave viewers in awe of this mythical and historical place. Nevertheless, the audience will wonder why she just didn’t get her dad to sign or call the fellowship committee and explain the situation.

I give it 3 out of 5 stars

This is my fault. I have to make it right – Claire
