Single Black Female 3: The Final Chapter – Review
Single Black Female 3: The Final Chapter – Lifetime – 2 hours and 0 minutes

New evidence frees Monica after six months in jail. However, Trevor’s sister, Detective Ebony, believes Monica or Simone should be behind bars. Nathan calls Monica from Houston. He wants her to return to Tea Time, but Monica thinks it’s a step backward. She wants to do more with her newfound infamy. After some time, Monica considers returning to Houston on her terms. She wants to start a podcast discussing the number of innocent people behind bars. Monica tells BeBe, who is ready to leave Seattle.
Joy calls her mother, Simone, from college. Joy’s classes are going well, but she’s struggling to make friends. She’s tired of being the ‘weird girl’ on campus. Simone understands Joy’s turmoil and wants to help. Simone video chats with Sister Margaret. Simone wants to return to Houston to help Joy. However, Sister Margaret warns Simone that her past awaits her there. And it could rekindle Simone’s demons. Margaret won’t support Simone if she returns. Simone doesn’t heed the warning and flies to Houston.
Ebony asks her boss for time off to mourn Trevor’s passing, but that’s a lie. She flies to Houston to keep an eye on Monica. She spies on Monica’s interactions, travels, and businesses to uncover if Monica is a killer. And BeBe doesn’t think Simone is gone. BeBe hires a private investigator to find Simone and pull her out of hiding. Later, Sister Margaret travels to Houston. She visits Monica to warn her that Simone could be in town. These women’s lives will collide when someone kills Sister Margaret. This spree killer won’t stop until everyone pays. But who is the culprit?
This movie, unlike its predecessors, isn’t a revenge story. It’s a murder mystery. A person in everyone’s life dies or becomes a potential victim. So viewers are unsure of who to blame. Simone is the easy choice because of her past acts, but motherhood changes her. Monica has always been on the right side of the law but looks over her shoulders for Simone. The plot will have you guessing until one dinner scene. Viewers will question how the killer knew which item to strike. That question will solve the mystery. You will spend the remaining time watching to prove you are right. This final installment wasn’t the series’ high note, but it’s a fun movie that closes the book on every character. And their conclusions are acceptable and entertaining.
I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars

Trapped in Her Dorm Room – Review
Trapped in Her Dorm Room – LMN – 2 hours and 0 minutes

Erin and Cade discuss their future scholastic plans. He’s looking for an internship in Italy, but she’s focusing on keeping her scholarship. Erin has a substantial project due, and it will have a tremendous effect on her GPA. She wants to skip spring break and concentrate on finishing her project. Erin cuts Cade off to talk to her roommate, Kaley. Kaley warns Erin that Cade has a crush on her. She tells Erin to date Cade or stop talking to him. Erin says she will but wants to be kind. Kaley then begs Erin to join her on spring break, but Erin says no. She and Cade will be some of the few students remaining on campus over the break.
Erin runs into Kaley in the hallway. After talking with her mom, Erin changed her mind about spring break. Kaley jumps for joy, but Cade isn’t happy. He thought they would spend the break together in their dorms. Cade thinks Kaley is a bad influence on Erin. He leaves, and Erin parties with Kaley in the dorm hallway. Later, Erin enters her room and finds Cade there. They argue. Cade hits Erin and knocks her out. Erin wakes up alone but can’t open the door or window. Also, her phone is missing. Cade walks into the room and admits he has changed the locks. He won’t let her leave until she realizes she loves him like he loves her. Can Erin escape?
This movie isn’t the best entry for the 2025 Spring Breakdowns series. The start gives the audience some foreshadowing of Erin’s eventual escape. However, Erin makes unforgivable errors. She keeps running to the elevator to escape, but the stairs are available and quicker. And she doesn’t give the safe word when Cade texts her mom. Also, Cade’s dialog is a whiny regurgitation of the manosphere. He believes that being nice should guarantee access to Erin’s body and love. The shining light in this film is Erin’s RA, Anna. She listens to her instincts and sounds the alarm by contacting campus security, checking on Erin, and reaching Erin’s emergency contacts. She doesn’t accept the easy answer. Instead, Anna goes above and beyond to protect Erin. Viewers can skip this movie unless they need to scream at the TV.
I give it 2.5 out of 5 stars

I’m supposed to be your friend – Cade

Playing with Fire – Review
Playing with Fire – Lifetime – 2 hours and 0 minutes

Nurse Natalie’s husband, Loughlin, wakes her after returning from med school. He asks about dinner, and she’s upset. She worked a double shift to help him pay for school. And, the first moment of rest, he wakes her to make dinner. Loughlin acknowledges his mistake and cooks for himself. After dinner, Loughlin leaves, and Natalie takes a bath. She hears the fire alarm blaring and finds smoke billowing through the halls. She escapes to the roof and waits for Fire Rescue to save her. Firefighter Jack brings the ladder to Natalie and helps her down to the ground. She is happy to be alive, but her house is gone.
Loughlin and Natalie move in with Natalie’s friend, Alesha. Natalie has a place to stay, but her relationship isn’t solid because she quietly blames Loughlin for the fire. He swears he didn’t leave the rag on the stove, but Natalie doesn’t believe him. While Loughlin is at school, Alesha decides to meet some nice firemen with homemade chocolate chip cookies. She bakes a batch and convinces Natalie to go to the firehouse.
Natalie and Alesha arrive at the fire station and meet firefighters Tony and Jack. Alesha flirts with Tony while Natalie talks to Jack. Jack listens to Natalie’s troubles and offers help. Someone is subletting a place in his building. It won’t be much. However, it will provide Natalie with a stable, private place. Natalie can’t believe her luck and exchanges numbers with Jack. After Natalie and Alesha leave, Jack social stalks Natalie. He thinks she looks like his past love, Rebecca. He will do anything to have Natalie to himself. Will Natalie be able to see through Jack’s façade?
Lifetime is going back to its roots with an old-fashioned stalker movie. Jack doesn’t have boundaries, but Natalie needs a backbone. He consistently oversteps and intrudes, but she won’t stand up to him. He uses high-tech solutions to invade Natalie’s privacy. He bugs her home and uses voice software to create voice notes. Jack is an evil genius. If Jack had been patient, he may have gotten the woman. Loughlin is not the best husband. He disregards Natalie’s feelings and cheats. It’s easy for Jack to drive a wedge in their life. The final fight is a bit of a letdown. However, it drives the point home. Viewers should watch this movie from Jack’s perspective to have a good laugh at his insanity. If you’re watching from Natalie’s point of view, then the film is rage bait. Either way, this is Lifetime giving the fans what they want.
I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars
I’m a jerk – Loughlin
I have to call my husband – Natalie
Nod, agree with my plan and eat the cookie dough – Alesha

Royal-ish – Review
Royal-ish – Hallmark – 2 hours and 0 minutes

Lacey works as Princess Sweet Pea at Once Upon A Time Land at Emerald Park. She sees her boss, Mr. Doyle, talking to a new Bo Peep. Lacey admits to her friend, Ava, that she fears Mr. Doyle will replace her. Lacey knows she’s aging out of the role and doesn’t know what to do next. Ava reminds Lacey that she has a bachelor’s in psychology. However, Lacey didn’t get into a master’s program. So she got a job at a diner and the theme park to pay off student loans. Lacey must remain realistic and look for new opportunities.
Prince Henry eats with his daughter, Princess Rose. The Order of the Lily ceremony will be soon, and the people expect Rose to ride a horse and declare her position in the court. Also, Queen Elosie may adjudicate the throne if she deems Henry worthy. However, Eloise’s counsel, Lionel, doesn’t think he’s ready. Rose worries about riding in the procession because she fell off her horse practicing. Rose wishes she possessed the bravery that princesses have in her fairytales. Henry assures Rose that all princesses have fears. He decides to show her. He arranges for them to go to America for 2 weeks and have a tea party with a princess.
As Lacey smooths her pink gown, Ava alerts Lacey that Prince Charming has a flat tire. Lacey must find a dad in the crowd to waltz with during the dance. Lacey enters the room and proceeds with the tea party. She meets with Rose and Henry, and Rose gives her royal title. However, Lacey assumes it’s pretend and keeps the ruse going. Lacey tells Rose she has fears, too. But facing them makes her brave. The two connect, and Rose volunteers Henry for the waltz. Afterward, Rose hugs Lacey goodbye.
Lacey arrives at work, and Mr. Doyle has a special assignment for her. Two guests want the Royal VIP treatment. Lacey will walk them through the park as Princess Sweet Pea and guide them through anything. Lacey agrees, and Mr. Doyle presents the crowned Prince Henry and Princess Rose of Bella-Moritz. Lacey curtseys in shock. She takes Rose to the merry-go-round but sees Rose’s apprehension. She promises to stay with Rose and keep her safe. Lacey’s caring heart and calming nature impress Henry. Henry believes Lacey can prepare Rose to ride in the ceremony. He invites Lacey to stay in the castle for 2 weeks and offers her double what her jobs pay. Mr. Doyle allows the break, but Lacey can’t wear her costume or have them address her as Sweet Pea. He likes to keep the park’s mystique. Lacey happily beams and agrees.
Lacey arrives at Bella-Moritz, meets Queen Eloise, and exchanges clumsy hellos before heading to her bedroom. Eloise meets with Henry to discuss Rose, the ceremony, and his standing. She wants Rose to receive tutoring at the castle, but Rose’s late mother wants her to attend school with the people. Eloise desires for Rose to ride in the ceremony. Henry thinks Rose will be ready but will continue her education outside the palace’s walls. And Eloise is uncomfortable with a stranger roaming the ground. Henry believes all his choices are correct and won’t budge. So Eloise give him an ultimatum. If Rose doesn’t ride, she will obtain private tutoring at the palace, and Eloise won’t abdicate. However, Rose can stay in school, and Henry can become the king if Lacey gets Rose on the horse for the ceremony. Henry agrees but doesn’t tell Lacey. When their budding romance becomes a stain on the royal legacy, can their relationship come to fruition?
Based on Once Upon a Royal Summer by Teri Wilson, this movie about a fake princess becoming an actual princess has a lot of heart (FTC Affiliate Disclaimer). This story allows all three main characters to grow. Lacey bonds with Rose because they’ve been through hardships. Lacey doesn’t view Rose as a future royal but as a little girl. Rose needs help regaining her confidence and finding ways to reframe her fears. Spending time with Rose helps Lacey find her focus. She was unsure what to do with her degree but found a direction. Henry discovers his place as a royal. He learns how to handle the crown his way while being a wonderful father to Rose. Eloise seems like the villain. However, your view of her will change. This new royal movie is charming, easy-going, and caring.
