Laura, a chef, and John, a lawyer, have tried for years to have a baby. But after 3 miscarriages and several failed attempts, they are down to their last embryo. After careful screening, John and Laura like Anna and decide to choose her as their surrogate. Laura and John meet with Anna and her fiancé, Mike, for dinner and solidify their deal. Soon, Anna is pregnant and Laura is elated. Then, John gets a call that Michael has abused Anna and he is being arrested for domestic violence. Laura and John decide to let Anna say with them in their pool house, give her the same salary (so she can quit work), and buy her a car (so she can come and go as she pleases). As time goes on, John’s kindness is mistaken for love and Anna starts to flirt with him. He tells Anna to stay away because loves his wife. But, John doesn’t know what drives Anna or who is in control.

This suspense film is stronger than a Lifetime movie, because of all the twists and turns. Also, unlike Lifetime movies, the husband isn’t an idiot. He sees Anna for what she is and calls her out. Laura, also, is quickly on to Anna; but the love for their child keeps them holding on to Anna while she is pregnant. While this is a great matinee movie, one time is good enough. You will definitely find yourself saying “Really … your going to investigate the creepy noise in the dark room” or “Now you are going to make a phone call .. NOW.” But the love, strength, and determination of these parents-to-be will make you like this movie. Don’t pay full price, but see it before some tells you the ending. By the way, don’t be surprise if the end leaves you with more questions than answers.

I give it 3 out of 5 stars

She’s great – Laura

It’s been a long day cat, move – John

I’m the brains, you’re the uterus – Michael

I never had anything that anyone wanted, except for the obvious – Anna
