Blended Christmas – BET+ – 1 hour and 22 minutes

April and Michael approach the door to catch their Hawaiian honeymoon flight when Michael gets a call from the hospital. His ex-wife, Nicole, was in a car accident, and he is her emergency contact. April fumes as Michael insists on going to the hospital. He shares two children, Gabrielle and Jayden, with Nicole and doesn’t know who will care for them during the holidays.
When they arrive at the hospital, April demands that Nicole’s emergency contacts be changed. However, Michael stops April. Nicole admits she hasn’t called her immediate family to help. Michael contacts Nicole’s parents. But they are snowed in and can’t make it in time. Michael cancels their honeymoon to watch his kids until Nicole feels better. April pulls off her scarf and leaves the room, unknowingly leaving her necklace behind. Nicole’s nurse, Jillian, finds the locket and searches for April.
April graciously thanks Jillian for returning her locket containing a photo of her and her mother before her death. The locket helps April feel closer to her mom. Then, April vents to Jillian about Nicole and her honeymoon. Jillian states that Nicole will leave the hospital soon and someone must care for her. She gives April her business card: Holiday Angels. April takes the card and returns to Nicole’s room. Then, Marshall appears. Jillian came close to breaking the rules. However, she promises Marshall that she will be careful while helping April. She will help heal this blended family over Christmas.
This movie has the holiday magic from heaven that we need during the season. April, Nicole, and Michael have a history that throws a wedge in their relationship. In college, April and Michael dated. When they took a break, Michael dated Nicole and impregnated her. Then, he built a life with Nicole and had another child. After their divorce, Michael and April rekindled their romance. Michael thinks he can keep the peace. But Nicole plays games, and April holds a grudge. All three must remember the two most important people: the children. Jillian helps them understand each other and put the children first. It’s a lesson a lot of families need this season.
