The Unauthorized Beverly Hills, 90210 Story – Lifetime – 2 hours
Beverly Hills, 90210 dominated TV for 90’s babies. The show dealt with teen domestic violence, gun violence, other teen issues. This Lifetime movie is the behind the scenes look at the actors, producers, and creators of the show. These actors went from little-know actors to worldwide sensation in 1 season. While trying to demand respect from Hollywood, they were asked to leave restaurants, egged into club fights, and escaped crazed fans in laundry baskets . Often, Aaron Spelling was the victim of late night calls due to sponsors complaints and Shannon issues. Darren Star, one of the shows creators, was often met with harsh criticism because of the shows story lines and often caving for the “bigger picture”.
The only eye opening moments in this movie are the sponsors complaints and requests. The Unauthorized Beverly Hills, 90210 Story should be title, Everyone Hates Shannon. It focused more on her and her TV persona, than the cast. The movie even ends when she gets fired and Tiffani-Amber Thiessan joins the cast. And ending with the Shannon’s firing, doesn’t deal with the shows true downfall. The show went on for 6 more seasons without Shannon. Even the actors’ wrap-ups were poorly done because they tried to be funny. This movie was a waste of time, money, and talent. This is the typical boredom that we have come to know and hate with Lifetime biopics. Lifetime has failed again.
I give it 0 out of 5 stars
